Cheap california legal catalytic converter
Cheap california legal catalytic converter
Hey guys im getting my 91 n/a Rx7 back on the road with a rebuild motor. I still have my old magnaflow catalytic converter from 10 years ago. I dont know the new CA laws. Do i have to replace it with a new CA legal cat?

I'm no smog tech, but mine passed with a Bonez, so the Magnaflow should be good unless it has a lot of miles on it. It's probably a good idea to look up the CARB laws for your particular part of the state. A car from Humboldt or Trinity counties will have easier laws to follow than say LA or San Diego for instance.
But yeah, if the Magnaflow's not rattling or obviously toasted, install it and see what happens.

CARB laws do not differ, compliance and registration laws do.
ARB has a database tool that you can use to search, there are still a few that you can use.
Here's the tool:

Where did you go to get your motor rebuilt? I have a 91 rx-7 as well and looking to rebuild mine too. Thanks!
