Chassis disassembly

Does anyone know how far back the front end is welded? In other words, if it's even possible... how much would have to come off if I wanted to swap the front end of my chassis?

Oh, oh...this can't be good.

As a unibody car, the RX doesn't have a "front end" per se, the whole structure is interdependent.
When you say "swap the front end of my chassis", what exactly are you talking about?

or maybe he wants to be another ricer and swap the right hand steering in, in which case the best way is to cut the firewall out and weld in the new panels.

the unibody isn't sectional, the only chassis parts that come off these cars is the front fenders and doors, the rest is attached physically to the frame of the car. if the front end is damaged then you need a fat wallet or a car crusher.

I hate taking a **** at work then having to pretend the whole way back to my desk that everything is okay. I am still sitting on one *** cheek. And no, one cannot simply walk into Mor- weld a new front to the car, it is unibody and these cars are not worth enough money for the work. Just get another shell.

There is slight chassis damage on the front right corner. The damage appears to be very localized so I was hoping to be able to swap out the damaged section but it sounds like that's not possible without cutting and welding and that doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I'll try to bend it back into place because I really don't feel like swapping shells. I'll post a picture of the damage when I get home.

You might be able to use a spot weld cutter and remove the damaged section from your car and pull a replacement from another car but I wouldn't do it to anything structural and I'd measure and brace the car prior to digging in.
