chasing a gremlin
is there a way to do a leakdown test on the oil system to see what is leaking--ie oil control rings....
i'm using way to much oil and the engine only has about 20thou on it... yes i do have smoke but not all the time....
i'm getting ready to pull this thing and replace the coolant and oil seals not to mention port the hell out of it....
its been a knock down dragout with this car. first grounding issues then boost sensor problems-- then ported and polish the whole intake and exhaust. then the turbo's started leaking, so i9 rebuilt them.... still leaking.... so sent to turbo city for rebuild/balance now the motor is smoking but still stong and a coolant gremlin....
back to the motor... if i pull this motor apart and every thing is ok like it should because comp. is ok. all i need to replace is the oil control rings and the coolant seals right... or wrong

sounds about right...just the oil seals....does it smoke only above a certian rpm? and is it like a smoke screen when it happens? does you car leak oil? very dirty engine bay?

no it's not a smoke screen it's medium to light to almost not there..... like the other day car sat and idled for 2 min(turbo timer) went out 5 min later and started and it smoked for a good 5 min then lightened up to almost not there.... i just want to catch this early before it causes or i blow the rest of the motor.... also can't take to dyno if smoking every once in awhile... other thing if i got oil in the combust. chamber that means i'm lowering my octane or increasing my chances of detonating ( can't afford) but can afford basic rebuild
also i do have the atkins thermal pellet. so there is increased oil pressure all the time...
