Changing Catback (Simple question)

My catbacks gonna be here tmrw, You guys think I could remove the old catback and replace it in my driveway? (Which is level) my dad said I'd need to jack up the car and place jackstands as high as they'd go and it'd be a pain and the *** and he keeps suggesting having some muffler shop do it, I don't wanna pay some monkey's that put coffee can's on civics to do it I'm pretty sure I could with no problem.

but

I've never removed a exhaust system before, I believe we removed some part from the car previously (near the y pipe I think since theres a gasket leak there now) that was years ago I think it was when we changed the tranny fluid.

So

I'm hoping to accomplish this myself but I don't want to jump in then have a paperweight car, if you guys got any suggestions I'm down to read them. So far I was told it should be easy as pie and just need a breaker bar on the ratchet to get the bolts loose from the cat.

I know I can't have my hand held through this nor do I want to I just don't want to **** up something.

thanks guys if i got it all down already just someone say so then the topic can die

-Chris

Meh wasn't too hard when I did it. Would be nice to have someone help you if you can but I installed a fully connected catback (when switching back to stock) on my own. It was a pain but not to hard.

Do it yourself mang. I've taken my cat back off a few times to do other work, and it's one of the easiest jobs. The car doesn't have to be super high up, just enough where you can comfortably work on it.

do it yourself. buy a can of wd40 to spray down all the bolts before you knock them loose. it also helps to lube up the rubber hangers before you try to unhang stuff.

Oh it won't be too loud. Your neighbors can go jump in a lake if they don't like the sound of a rotary firing up!

Install it yourself, easy to do...just a couple of bolts.

Shouldn't be to loud, but people do complain. You can install it yourself, an extra pair of hands is always helpful.

If you have any problems you wont have a paperweight, your acceleration will just go to pot, just clean off all sufaces that any gaskets are touching and dont forget to put any in (i drove around for a month without one between the muffler and the pipe on the passenger side cause i was to lazy to fix it) Its pretty easy you should have no problems at all

i did my transmission with the car on jackstands, you'll be fine, i've swapped out my different catbacks in my driveway so many times i've lost count., take out each section seperately for ease (down pipe/cat/y-pipe/mufflers)

tis a auto still

I'm worried about the noise esp at the 3k and 1.5k accelerated idle's, once on the street it wont matter. I live with my grandma atm and she's in a 55+ person only area, the people here know me, and my car lol but they're ******** about noise.

You guys think the silencer would actually do much?

Yeah it does seem to sound good.

When I went to spray all the bolts that were gonna come off with wd40 seemed as if I could remove the catback without even jacking up the car.

Ok guys I got one doughnut off the driver side muffler, the bolts came off the cat with not too much trouble and i took off the two screws right there.

The gasket looks beaten, I can't remember where the exhaust leak i saw before was but i think its in the y pipe further down hopefully this gasket will still work.

I don't got that much room under the car im already beaten from trying to get the other doughnuts off the mufflers, hopefully my dad can find this hook tool he has, says its for removing the hangers easier.

Do I need to remove anything off the cat to reach the bolt or is it physically on the cat? On the corksport pieces you need two wrenches to tighten the bolts (yeah sounds dumb how i describe it but I know alot of things use this) but when I feel around the cat I can't feel the bolt, all I could get to was the nuts.

Is that all? I got bad cuts on my index and middle finger knuckles on the finger so it's rather hard to feel around metal and have it poke my cuts, so if anyone knows what i need to do around the cat, thanks.

Hopefully I figure it out ~_~

The cat's may be on studs, I am not 100% sure and don't remember what mine were.

The stock Mufflers FTMFL, they curl around those dougnuts and hang on for dear life.

LOL I was just thinking I'm a weak bitch, but I started bending the stock pipe

I hope to dear god this corksport isnt too loud, you guys think the silencer for it will help much in the event its too loud? If its too loud and a silencer wont help I'll have to put back on the stock exhaust today =[

I mean, it looks like a straight pipe LOL

EDIT

I got the tool, those ******* doughnuts aint coming off =[
