yes! people, do that! put v8s in yours, crash them into things, paint them yellow with exploding chickenshit stickers on the side, do whatever you want! It makes mine worth that much more.
And about the value, well, I've had this argument too many times. You're simply wrong, and no amount of arguing will convince me otherwise. A 10AE just sold in sudbury (with 20,000 origional KM, granted) for $22,500.
One just sold in calgary for $16,000 (with 120,000KM!) but mint otherwise. There's one in autotrader right now for $15,000 and I'm sure the guy will get it.
Regular s4 TIIs go all the time for $4000 or less. If this isn't worth any more than a regular one, how the hell are these people getting that much for their cars?
By the time I sell mine, it won't be low KM anymore, and as of tomorrow, it doesn't have origional paint, but you know what? I don't care. I'm going to ask much much more than $2000, and I'm going to get it.
As far as the modifications go, when its a unique car, unless you put it back to stock before you sell it, they just make the car worth less money in the long run. The 10AE in sudbury woudln't have sold for more than $8-10K if it had a full exhaust, lowering kit, wheels, etc, etc, etc. Regular TIIs might not lose any value, but when you're talking about a rare car, things change.
That said, I'm not going to leave mine stock, but when I do sell it, it's going to go back as close to stock as I can get it.
It's just like if you turboed a GTUs. You'd DESTROY the car's resale value.
Mazda MP3s command a GOOD DEAL more than regular proteges, so whoever owns one was wrong about it's resale value.

with my 10AE i bought it missing some stuff, for $600 im not complaining. as long ad in my eyes its a 10AE rx-7. im still keeping it white i have FD wheels. and im missing the leather seats sure im gonna put mods. but i still see it as it is a unique car that not every one can say that have a 10AE. dont go paint it black and take the tags of you just killed the signifance of the car why dont you get rid of the steering wheel and the one peice shift **** and shift boot wile your at it. if you think about it your gonna look more like some ricer who bought some 10th AE parts to make it look like you have one even tho your car is black.
i never really respect the people who brag there car is "more expencive" ohh ahhh my car is more expencive than yours. thats up there with my SUV is bigger then yours. and it is true everytime one of you go and ruin a 10AE there is one less of them making my car more rare.

okay, now it's my turn for my loud mouthed opionated self to respond to this thread, being that I have a 10th ae aswell.
All you people who are obsessed with not touching the ae's are insane. If you change the color, it's still an AE. The vin # says so. I don't give a **** what color it is, what mods you have or whatever. It's a 10th ae no matter what. Is now and forever will be unless you cut up the frame or drop in a different engine. if the vins match, and it's in that specific area for ae's, then it's an ae. I have done so much stuff to my car (and far from done) but just because I have put crazy **** in my car doesn't mean it's gonna be worth less. If it's done in well, no one is gonna bitch. They'll say "wow, that looks great, I've never seen that in a t2! What? It's a 10th ae as well? Holy ****! What a gem!"
****, I didn't buy MINE because it was a 10th ae. I bought mine because it was a t2 and my mechanic sold it to me for cheap. If anything, it's been in a wreck and mistreated (previous owner), so therefore, after the repair, IT'S NO LONGER A REAL AE!! OH!!!!! no. It still is. Wether I paint it purple with yellow flames or keep it white (staying white). Get a grip on yourselves people. As long as what you do to your car is tastfully done, then please, make yourself happy.
I have plenty of mods. I plan on dumping the frontend. I plan on getting some type of headlight swap (in the future, not soon). I plan on doing a roll cage. I'm sure I'll get crap now that I'm mentioning that I swapped on my 89 taillights. It's all about doing to your car what makes you happy. You think it looks good? Go for it. My car was "no longer a 10th ae" back after that ******* kid wrecked it. now it's just a "shadow" of an ae. Such bullshit. Some people are just rediculous. I also don't plan on ever selling my T2. Which increases its value to ME, and ME alone. And that will always be greater than anyone elses opinion of the value of my car.
That's all I have to say about that.....
By the way. I personally like the fc in white. But I'm always open to change. I'd have to see the color first. And that yellow DOES look freakin' awful on that other ae. Do not go yellow.

So lets make an analogy here. Lets say I have a genuine Monet hanging on my wall. And I dont like the color. If I paint over it to suit my liking, then its STILL a Monet? Just because I have a peice of paper that says it is?

Really?!? Want to trade a regular TII for your 10th AE? Since it really means nothing to you?
Get a grip on yourselves people.
Seems to me like you had better heed some of your own advice.
The thread starter was curious to find out what are opinions are. My opinion is, keem them looking stock. Mess with the engine, do whatever, but try to keep it looking like a 10th. Its part of the FC heritage you are representing. But thats my opinion, and you have yours. But calling us "obsessed", and "ridiculous", isnt going to change my mind one bit.

You guys want to go and repaint it flaming pink or whatever, go ahead! In the long run, you are going to regret that mistake.
And for the rest of you little ricers that have the misfortune of owning a 10th AE. STOP! DONT DO IT! Put the stickers down, and step away from the fart pipe!
Sell it to me, or someone else that can apprecite the car, and go buy a HONDA!

by the way. my goal here is not to change your mind. But yet to show others the faults in your perception of this subject. Sorry - not aiming for personal attacks.

Okay, I freely admit to saying that. May have been a little harsh...
But how can you not compare cars to art? I dont see that they are so much different.
It pains me to think that someone, somewhere, has a 10th AE, that is in wonderful condition. And this individual is planning on changing it all around. When I have one that I am painstakingly restoring, and has been mistreated BADLY. Call me a purist, call me wierd, just dont call me "ridiculous".

Epitrochoid Chamber FTW
Back from the grave! J-rat... You are hilarious in this thread and, you can count on me keeping my 10thAE UC! Wheels and all... But about those tail lights.... I still can't decide if I wanna go S5 on that babies. I [I]do[I] like the S4 tails in all white and it has that uniqueness factor but, the s5s are just sooo damned sexy I can't get over it.
Truth be told if I could have another Rx7 (wife permitting! lol) with s5 tails on it, then I wouldn't be tempted to alter my 10th.
Decisions, Decisions...
