hey guys,

ive drained the coolant of my S5 Turbo, and wanted to change coolant like the techsection of fc3spro.com explains. ok i have flushed my system with water, and wanted to boil it over, i ran the engine at idle and i ve driven some minutes around, but nothing happens, no steam, no high temperature, nothing.. so my car is off right now, and is going to cool down. im asking whether i have to flush with right coolant now, or try again to boil it over?

I don't know why you wouldn't just drain it all again and then just add coolant to fill it in, maybe do mostly 50/50 and then do some full strength just to top it off to make sure you get a good ratio.

I think he means to use 100% Ethylene glycol to top off the 50% mixture when the level goes down after the air comes out.
Nonsense! just have your coolant pre-mixed and fill the thing up. Having a mixture of more then 50% ethylene glycol is less efficient then 50-50. Also, make sure you use distilled water, Its amazing how fast those impurties in normal tap water deposit in the system.

 

yea for sure, i have bought enough destilled water and preston coolant.

so im going to drain that **** off, and fill in.

is it common, that the engine drainplug is so difficult to reach? its really a pain!

 

you mean the coolant drain plug? i thought it was in a really nice location on FC's. Somes cars dont even have a drain plug for coolant!

 

Why are you trying to boil the system over? I have not read the tech section of TeamFC3s, but it seems like rather poor advice to purposely overheat a car if that is indeed part of the instructions.

Drain the system, flush it, then refill with the appropriate mixture of coolant and water. There are bleeding instructions in the Archives.

 

i ve filled it up now, until nomore coolant was going into the radiator. in the FSM i can read 8,7Litre coolant capacity.. but i filled up about 7Litre no more i think, and its full. did run the engine for 20 minutes also!
