Center Console Ideas

Ok....Has anyone redone their center consoles?? I'm looking to get rid of the ashtray and would like a storage holder (e.g. a drink tray holder to install below the radio)

Any pictures of what you may have done would be appreciated...

That is definitely interesting....I would have no use for the computer idea though...I get in the car to get away from that stuff

I originally made that PC for playing MP3s, and it did that for a while. Now it's mainly used to tune the E-Manage, I even have a wi-fi card in there to upload MP3s if I need to

the computer looks bad ***, but you should hard- wire that radar detector so no cables run up the middle of your dash

i am taking out the top air vents, and putting my gauges in there. gauges have to come off the A pillar bc of the rollbar. i may follow shadowx's idea and put my ac controls in the glove box so i can fit more gauges on my console. nice looking out!

How about making use of the rotary heat and putting a convection oven in there?

Actually, that's my G-Tech, no radar detector.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend my setup for anyone else, it's really a PITA. That's a Toshiba Libretto laptop that I had to hack up to fit in there. There's a lot of newer setups with touch screens that are a lot better, albeit a little more expensive.

I also had to cut and extend the wiring harness for the A/C controls, which was also a bitch.

And I got rid of the stock player ages ago, the MP3 player works fine as a stereo.

Apparently the console is from an 84-85 GSL-SE.
