Cautionary Tale

A Comedy in One Act

Our protagonist, Mumble-groan, enters Stage Left and opens the hood of his beloved FC3S...

Mumble-groan: I don't know how any of this complicated stuff works. sigh. groan.

Chorus: Rip it out!!! You don't need that Sh*t!!

Mumble-groan: Awesome! Thanks! How much Hp will I gain?????

Months later...

Mumble-groan: Why doesn't my car idle/start/cool/run right??? sigh, groan

Mumble-groan: (speaks while typing on computer)

2nd Generation RX-7 (1986-1992) Vehicles: Atlanta, GA
F.S. Great Running FC, looks good, lots of reliability mods, complete emmission removal, won't start or idle -just needs a little work.....$2000.

Chorus: (various voices)

$200!

Part out!

I need the dash wiring harness-$50 shipped??

Will you ship it to Walla Walla for $500?

Give you $.75 for the OMP...

Is that the Red interior???? Yuk!

Your wheels are gay. Who would put wheels like that on an FC....

Trade for my Subie WRX-Your car and $9000 cash?

Do you have a compression test???

Lulz...

I've seen plenty of cars that have had owners with eager wire cutting hands.

Not saying parts removal is bad, but people should read a book and know what they're removing before they do it.

Awesome.

Oddly, it's the same crowd of people that say "rip it all out!" that also fly off the handle when someone suggests a piston engine swap...hmmm...

The engine is indeed a major component in the emissions system.

Atlanta was just about a full diagonal across the lower 48 from Walla Walla. It was more of a state of mind than an actual location.

Artistic license.

Very funny thread. Hats off to you.

Oh. And by the way, about what I assume is the Avatar area of your thread, we (I) want to tax your 401K prior to your retirement. After all "It's our money and we want it NOW!". Your just holding it for us.

i was thinking just today actually how much time people on here spend so much time doing useless stuff like pulling off the idle controls, and replacing perfectly good vacuum lines with perfectly good vacuum lines.

but then run a zip tie for an exhaust hanger and have the exhaust rip the studs out of the rotor housings.

oh and BTW, you CANNOT let the studs in the rotor housings hold the weight of the exhaust, it MUST have exhaust hangers, the studs WILL BREAK, and the easy fix is to pull the motor.

Oh no, I saw that one coming. I 'invested' my money in shiny JDM SSBOV's and Coil-overs and DTSS replacement bushings and a manual boost controller and some extra A/F gauges and genuine faux leather racing seats w/6-point harness and Apex N1 exhausts and SSAutochrome Turbo Manifolds and and a Phantom Grip LSD and wheel spacers for my twankie deuces and a case of matching lot number Krylon BBQ Black.

I'm gonna start my build thread as soon as I find a suitable shell..

I have 'savings' consisting of a huge storage locker with all my emissions equipment and my 'rip-that-bitch-out' A/C system and the power steering V-belts and lots and lots of assorted vacuum lines and 6-4 lug wheels and 3-14" tires (3/32' tread) and a left-over steel N/A hood and 2 spare passenger seats and the carpet and all of that black stuff under the carpet and the left side of the stock exhaust hangers and a couple of spare antenna motors along with allota stuff that I didn't recognize, so I ripped it out with sidecutters and a HarborFreight come-a-long. (Do you know how much this thing weighs?????)

Tax that.

Are there any more scenes of this play? Maybe one about the guy that removed the air pump from his S5 NA because it was for 'emissions'?

Hospitals will close, children will go hungry, schools will close and the climate will??? change/heatup/cool off just because you won't let us tax you just a little tiny bit more. Heatless curmudgeon. We just want a tiny itty bit MORE.

Maybe it's just because I'm tired and it's late, but your last post just made me double up with the giggles. I'll stop now before this thread gets sent to the whatever forum on this site.

Hmm. I wonder if you have ALL the black stuff under the carpet or just some of it. All stk black stuff or is it that aftermarket black stuff from China. Gone.

That is Miss January; she's a ringer. Buy the calendar, but look at what you see on the next couple of months.

Did you see Miss February?

Miss March? Sexy!

Good stuff!!! I say we turn this into a short film and have it as a DVD extra on the next Fast and Furious movie to hit the rental shelves.

How do you like DTSS removal? I may do the same while swapping differentials. Later in the summer I'll be selling the vert that was my turbo swap. It's southern and not a spot of rust. You should come to Indiana and take it home with you...I'd like it to go to someone who will do something worthwhile with it.
