If you're not using the stock studs, they can be whatever pitch you want. I use four 1/2 X 2.5" bolts & nuts from home depot (y-pipe to silencer & silencer to downpipe). Racingbeat exhaust parts will let you use bolts that big, but the stock stuff will need something smaller like 3/8 or 7/16.

If you can get Hardened steel Bolts/nuts..they hold up good Under heat..you will find that Ordinary Bolts tend to "stretch" under heat,so you will have to retighten them after you install them as the exhaust Heats up and contracts..But Honestly,I have regular Nut/bolts on the Exhaust I have, because I was in a hurry...IF you have STUDS on the exhaust Flange then Of course you will need the appropriate Thread for the Other Piece(nut or bolt)..Try Looking at This Thread..it is called the MASTER LIST OF THREAD SIZES FOR GEN GEN NUTS AND BOLTS ,Just hit Search and Punch that Title in..I kid you not..it Does EXIST!..and Some Info is in there,Like flange bolt sizes...good luck..STYX.
