Just bought an rx7 not sure whats in it..

I find it hard to believe this is a turbo, below is the Carfax freebie report:

Anyone have the specs (or major differences) on the following vehicles (1987):

I'm going to have to get under my '86 rx-7 this weekend to verify whether or not it's turbo. Just look at the front of the exhaust system. Mine was reported as turbo as well, but no turbos were made w/ the '86. Also, I don't see an external instercoller either.....

 

No it' s not.&nbsp Carfax got their "fax" all mixed up.
At the very least "JM1FC331..." - it's obivously not a turbo due to the "1"; turbos usually have a "2" in that position.

Is there a way to tell which style it is?

 

"FC33" means it's a "3-door coupe".
Boy, these things are pretty stupid.

As for model type, call up Mazda USA and ask to run the VIN for you.&nbsp Or you can tell us what kinda options your car has, and a dozen or so experts on here will give you their opinions...

Yeah... I wouldn't hold too much credibility to it being a turbo via what carfax says... I checked a 7 last week and ran the VIN on carfax and it said it was a turbo. If in fact it was bought a turbo... The previous owner sure did a good amount of work to take all of the turbo related stuff out and put in standard equipment... let alone the all of the gauge changes... And lets not forget the car is automatic... so he would of changed it from a man to auto tranny... all this why? :|

Point being: carfax is buggy sometimes....
