car wont stop help please

this is the problem i got i put in a t2 motor in a gtu, and when i hook up the battery terminals i hear a click and when i get inside the car the oil and temp gauge is up and the batt reads 12 volts but the idiot light says low batt, so when i try to give it a jump start the cables start smoking and get real hot and this happens when the ignition is still off what is the problem someone please tell me also the ground wire black/yellow is on the long starter bolt, ground on manifold, and trans to firewall ground. thanks for any help

car has been down for a month

when your cables start smoking, its cuz you have an Closed loop w/ no resistance. meaning, your hot jumper cable is connected to the ground some how, and there are almost Infinite power (Amps) cycling thru the negagive battery cable from jumper car to your rx7, thru the battery to ground, back up thru the positive cable and back into your jumper battery, and makes a huge loop and there are no electrical components, solenoids, resistors or Anything to stop this current from flowing so much and so fast, and all this current generates heat, so much that it will burn the sheath off your jumper cables, and melt the lead plates and posts on your batteries. who knows what it does to the electrical components.

i dont think the ground cable should be going to the starter post. thats supposed to have a big positive cable, and smaller 14 guage wires on the smaller posts. and what you do, is take a screw driver or somethign metal, touch it to the big metal post w/ the + cable, and then touch it to one of the smaller posts. the starter then jumps and spins the engine over and starts it.

this is called "jumping the solenoid" thats how you steal a car, or at least start it w/o the key. just make sure its not in gear when you do this, since it bypasses ALL the saftey switches.

i re-hooked the starter and as soon as i put on the negative cable it just smoked the ground wire that comes off the tranny to the firewall well i tried, but no luck i tired of my car sitting with all the money i spent, so i will have to take it to a professional electrical shop and just let them rip me off at this point i would pay someone to fly here and fix the 7.

something told me to just leave it a n/a

It sounds to me that your cables are on backwards

The red or positive cable should go to the starter solenoid terminal. The black or negative cable should go to an engine ground, such as a trans housing to engine bolt. There should also be a good engine to chassis ground wire installed.

You have something wired incorrectly, or serious problems with your starter.

You may have the hot wire on the wrong post on the starter. A good way to eliminate the rest of the system to check the main parts, is to remove the hot lead that goes to the fuse mox under the hood. That will eliminate everything in the car except for the starter. Now hook up your jumper cables and see what happens. You could even turn the starter over for a second just to see if it works. But don't expect it to start. And don't turn it over for very long. If this fixes your situation then you have something wired horribly wrong. I am convinced though that you have the wires backwards on the starter, which is basicaly just grounding the hot wire right there.
