when my car is cold after sitting for 6+ hours it cranks RIGHT up, however..it runs like CRAP. it has a dead miss, won't rev easily, smokes, shakes, crappy idle(surging)

as the car gets closer to operating temperature it runs better and better, eventually smoothing all the way out and running perfectly fine.

i put new plugs in but that didn't make any difference.

anyone have any ideas?

 

It seems as if your running rich at initial start up, anything done to your car?

 

mine does this to but its like 20 degrese here I just hold the gas pedal at liek 1500-2k for liek 30 seconds and whamo its good

 

sounds like a normal modded well fueled RX7.... once the coolant get warm enoughj it gets better right?

 

hey I am having the same problem with my car right now i got an 87 rx7 GXL It starts right up at first then its plugs get fouled n it acts like its flooded but about 10 minutes later it spits everything out but when its cold in the morning it ain't pretty ... I read that it could be from not letting it warm up to operating temperatures (750k rpm-1000k rpm) if it's idle is any higher then that DO NOT DRIVE IT ... cuz that is supposed to cause flooding or fouled plugs n sumtimes even confuse people into thinking they may have blown apex seals .... or it could be a leaky injector also ... Mine is all stock tho too what year is yours n how many mods does it have ???

everything should be good, cuz my car does that same ****. Bcuz were in FL, our cars are used to the warmer weather, but when it turns cold (as it has recently) they run a little more rich i guess at initial startup. Just let her warm up for a few minutes at least. I wait until at least 45 degrees Celsius (??? on Farenheit) to move it. Should run fine after that. GL

 

my car idles around 1500 rpm. is that too high? my car does flood very commonly . infact 6/10 starts it floods and I have to do the unflood procedure... Is it because its idleing too high? when I start it it takes about 3 minutes to warm up enough so that Ican let off the gas pedal so itll idle on its own without dieing.

my car was na, but recently had somebody do a t2 swap. I dont think they did a good job tunning the setup..been haveing alot of floods .it didnt used to flood when itwas na.

 

it does have quite a few mods, but still stock turbo and injectors....darn i still think it's something i can fix!

car has:
rtek 1.5
walbro 255lph
custom tid
stock top mount in an FMIC position
all emissions and a/c and p/s removed

it used to run better :[ maybe its the rtek install?
