Car problems. Its got an attidude

Hey guys.

I know when the car is going to act shitty. I start it up and the battery charging gauge will be at 12 and i'll start to go and the tach will jump up and down and i know the car will sputter and whatnot, backfire loudly. Some other times the car will charge find but drop to 12 at idle. Not cool. Sometimes it will charge at 13.6 at idle and 14.6 while running. Alt is fine. What can i check? What should i check? I've dont a fuel filter replacement spark plugs. Its gotta be somethin electrical for a wire might keep popping off or just making connection?

And today i opened the door and the door dinger worked! wtf!!

PLEASE HELP GUYS....I am going to resolder the ecu this weekend might help!

Peace!!

Well, check your engine grounds first thing. I've heard that is the cause of many a problem. Its somewhere on the back of the engine block, near the tranny bellhousing. You might have to pull some stuff off the engine to get there. There are a few threads around here on that subject to get started with. Best of luck to you electrical problems can be a bitch!

Id just replace it. Maybe add an extra ground or two using 10 gauge wire.

When making a ground can i just connect it from the engine to a part on the body with no paint or does it have to be a specific spot?
