car only revs to 2 grand with TPS unhooked

thats right ...

everyone talks about unplugging the TPS to diagnose idle issues, but is it supposed to do that?

EVERYTIME i unplug the TPS, and try to start the car, its starts just fine, and idles about the same as with it plugged in, the only difference is that the car wont rev past 2k, and its sluggish getting to that point ..

my foot can be on the floor, and IT WONT rev past 2k ... NEVER

anyone else have this happen?? ... is it supposed to happen??

if its not supposed to happen, what would cause this??

think about it, its a throttle positionaing sensor. foot to the floor = wide open throttle. throttle sensor unplugged.
when i have seen someone mentioning unplugging something, they're usually saying "let the car run, notice idle, then unplug X sensor and see if your idle changes." i don't know how accurate this can always be. in your case, you said it "idles about the same," yet you can't rev past 2K. being the type of sensor it is, i suppose it could work at certain "rpm" and not others, but its best to do a real test on it to find out.
what exactly is the problem again? why were you unplugging your TPS? moreso, why were you attempting to rev your car with it unplugged?

just curious ...

ive tested the TPS , and its not perfect, but for the most part its within spec ...

the reason is i would be testing it with a MM, and forget to plug it back in and then notice the car wouldnt rev without it plugged in ...

i have read peoples posts on here, saying they drove around for months without it plugged in, and noticed no change ... i was just wondering how that could be, since mine doesnt go over 2k

I know you can't do this on a Zenki turbo.
Maybe the NA guys have been getting away with it?
Or maybe the Kouki guys?

I know with the Zenki turbos, unplugging it will automatically trigger the decel cut when the revs hit anything over 1,800RPM.
