Exclamation This car is driving me nuts

Ok so I have a 89 GXL auto, When I got it the owner said it had trouble with hot starts. The car is in really good shape and only 109k on it. So I pulled the injectors out and had them cleaned. When I put them back in I replaced all intake manifold gaskets and put in PR 5th and 6th port inserts. After dealing with vacuum leaks and removing the intakes twice I have the car running again. But I still has trouble with hot starts. Some people have told me low compression will cause this but if that is the case why when I "clear" the flood it will start again.. Also it has a jumpy idle in park from 1000 to 1500. Any ideas?

Will that help the hot start also or just the jumpy idle?

Get that auto swapped out as soon as possible. Mine drove me nuts until I swapped in a 5 speed.

Yea I have a T2 trans, drive shaft, and rear I plan on swapping in. I have been buying the parts for the job. New master cylinder and such. As for the TPS adjustment I am either stupid or miss guided I have read three different write-ups and they all mention a adjustment screw, Im not seeing one! My TPS is out of range so im kinda stuck. thanks again for all your help!

ehh... i dunno about that.. do a search on hotstarts, might yield you some other results.. how does the car drive otherwise? i cant really see how "low compression" can do this. I cant recall at this moment, but i know there is a problem with the hotstart crap... ill check around.

yeah do the 5 spd swap... before you hate your car. lol i basically finished mine, putting some final touches on it and revising my adaptors...

Actually, its the other way around... If you have low compression, you are doomed with flooding/hot start issues.

Compression test so you know for sure.. If I'm having a problem, I always compression test to make sure.... its like pulling off a band-aid or waiting for AIDS test results.
