Can you "hot tank" an intercooler?

Yo,

I'm thinking of taking some turbo parts to a machine shop and have them hot tank them to clean off all the paint/oil/goo on them. Do you think I can hot tank an intercooler?

What's the best way to clean out an intercooler?

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure you can't hot tank a intercooler since it's made out of aluminum (I think). We have a hot tank at my college's auto shop and they said only cast iron and steel and stuff can go into the hot tank. Everything else would get eaten up by the cleaning solution inside of the hot tank. We use a machine called a parts washer to do all of the aluminum parts. Hope this helps.

Yo,

Your NA's going to blow a seal when it has TII parts on board.

I don't think you can hot tank them either. I have heard of many people cleaning IC's and Rads by soaking them in aluminum wheel cleaner.

Yo,

Yep, it ain't for my RX-7. I've got a Callaway Stage II kit for my Scirocco. Thinking of selling it so I want to clean up the goodies.

Thanks for the info!
