can leaky OMP cause low oil pressure down low?

I pulled my oil pump out today and it looked fine, don't really know what I'm supposed to look for besides checking the spring length on the pressure release valve.

There is alot of oil buildup all along the passenger side of the front cover, especially next to the omp so I was wondering if it was just like gushing out there and i just had never noticed it on visual inspection. Some of the oil buildup is above the omp though so is there somethin' else there that could be leaking oil?

The buildup above it could just be oil saturation in the dirt on the engine from leaking oil from the OMP.

The only way you would lose pressure from the omp is if it was spewing out, alot. You would then notice that you have very little oil as well.

Unless you see puddles under your car, your pressure problem is somewhere else..

You wouldnt loose oil pressure form the metering pump anyhow, the feed hole is a small passage and pretty low pressure, unless like Blackplague said it was absent/ gushing.

What are your symphtoms? When you say you pulled the oil pump, do you mean the actual pump or the OMP?

I thought it would be too easy if it was just the omp, I guess that's just another thing to fix. I pulled my oil pump, and it looks fine. My symptoms were low to zero pressure at low rpms, but occasionally running perfectly, and perfect pressure with the pedal to the metal.
