Title asks the question. Just curious.

Anyone have suggestions for something that would be efficient for 250~350whp?

Ive got three good stock top mount cores...I've welded two together for an FMIC before, would that sufficient?

Damn...this is true. If its too big there COULD be a pressure drop! lol...there is always a pressure drop. Most builders tend to prefer the biggest one they can fit in the open areas of the bumper. Bigger FMIC = more surface area for heat transfer and better heat dissipation. The line is drawn when the pressure drop is too high and makes the car laggy. You can google intercooler efficiency on google but I think mostly it is monitored with the use of two IAT's.

Thanks guys!

Again, though...I'm hoping to start in the 250whp area and end in the 350whp area. Is there a size decent enough to span that range? Suggestions?

yes. usually small length cores are the best. people that run HUGE cores that are half the width of the dang car is pointless.

rule of thumb, its not the length of the cores, but the over all number of cores is what matters. keep them pretty short.

Length will increase restriction but width will decrease restriction. You could reach a point where the intercooler is so big that there's not much more cooling possible and it's a waste to go bigger, but I don't think it'd make things worse.

I already have one almost put together from two FC TMIC cores...would that be adequate for up to 350whp? Hopefully by that point I'll have a better one, but in the mean time would it suffice?

Easy answer: No.
Complicated answer: Yes, but based on your post you don't need all of the details.

There are many factors that will affect how much "whp" an engine can produce with a given intercooler. Since you already have the two FC cores, you may as well just try that and see how it works. You will get better results if you run the two cores in parallel rather than series. In other words, if one core is represented with a - shape, then = is better than --

Yeah they're run parallel...I wanted the shortest distance between inlet and outlet. Though in series would have been sooooo much easier to weld...

Here are some already posted to the web...

Series - air flows from one to another

Parallel - air flows through both at the same time which reduces pressure loss.
