Can i change FC motor with FD motor?

I have recently just bought a 1986 rx-7 in trade for my civic. It has no engine so i was wondering if i could replace it with the 3rd gen tri-rotor with moderate ease. Is a lot of custom fitting required or does it slide right in the engine bay and hook up to the correct mounting points? What do i need to buy in order for this to work? What do i need to build the FD engine with to get it ready for 20lbs of boost? Finally would swapping the FD engine in be a better decision than sticking with the FC? I am new to the world of rotory but i am a good mechanic, so i plan on doing everything myself except for building the engine.

FD's Have a 2 Rotor Twin Turbocharged setup.
A 3 Rotor 20B engine is available from Japan in a car called the cosmo.
If you are going to go through the trouble of swapping engines, just do the 20B. It will get you alot of power in the end.
But be aware its very pricey. Some say its around $15k-$20k

Would someone outline every part that i need to purchase to swap a 20b into an 86 rx-7? I am planning on doing all of the work myself. If someone could outline what i need to do that would help.

There have been quite a few people who have already outlined what you would need to do, try doing a search.

not to step on M35514H's toes or anything, but, what would be involved in swapping a NA FC motor for the FD motor? i know they're a little different, but they're both 13Bs. can you use all the NA FC hookups? or can you take parts from the FD and use in the FC jsut the same(i.e. fuel pump, injectors etc.)

no real point to swapping an FD motor into any FC. the work involved cant justify the gains. an FD engine doesnt really have much more potential than a T2 13b. but to answer sephalix's question...no the 13brew ECU and harness are completley different than the 13b N/As harness and ECU. the 13bt and the 13b have completley different setups as well. basically my point is that the FD engine is way too much trouble to install for what its worth

so there's not a significant enough difference between the FD and FC turbo 13b to justify the extra cost? hmm. interesante. so i should go with a TII engine, an not an FD.

here's another annoying question: since they both share a similar engine, can the basic parts for the FD be put into an FC? like air filters, header, downpipe, turbo?

thanks for all the help!

i've googled for the things i've asked about but didn't come up with anything really. plus, i figured that this would be the best place to ask, seeing as it's an RX7 BBS and all.

FD motor mounts are on the rear housing FC mounts are on the intermediate housing. Have fun making new ones. Cosmo 13B mounts are different still, same place as a 20B. You can get an adapter for these two engines for the 2nd gen. You would have to use the corresponding year intake manifold and some heavy adapting if you want the 2nd gen computer to control everything. Even then it won't do it properly. Headers, turbos, filters should all be interchangable though. Just buy a J-spec T-II motor complete for less than $1K and go from there.
