Hi all. I found this wire that is hanging in my engine bay as you see from the photo. The harness goes to the other cables next to the battery.
Tha car is a S5, 91' turbo.

 

The hanging end is the one at the bottom left of the photo next to the blue silicon hose.

 

I was going to say that the wire goes to the pressure sensor on the bottom side of your PS pump, but given your European spec RX7 I'm unsure now. On US spec RX7's, there are two different types of PS pumps: Engine speed sensing pump and vehicle speed sensing pump. The engine speed sensing pump has a pressure sensor with a single wire. Engine speed sensing pumps are used on US spec S5 NA coupe and convertible models. The vehicle speed sensing pump has a pressure sensor with, I believe, two wires. Vehicle speed sensing pumps are used on US spec Turbo and GTUs coupe models. From what I can make out in your photo, your pump closely resembles an engine speed sensing pump but I may be wrong. I have no experience with European spec RX7's. You might want to take a closer look at your PS pump's sensor. The sensor resembles a cylinder that's about 2" long and about 3/4" in diameter. Those old wires often become brittle and snap off. Those pressure sensors are NLA from Mazda at least here in the US.

 

I thought that was for the air conditioner clutch?

 

Can you tell me if an US spec Turbo 2 convertible does exist? I think not. I'm the owner of an European Turbo 2 convertible, it's pretty rare! My european Turbo convertible has engine speed power steering!

 

No turbo 2 convertible models were sold by Mazda in the US. Interesting that your turbo 2 convertible has engine speed sensing power steering. So, that wire is most likely either from your PS pressure sensor or as IAN had mentioned from your AC magnetic clutch.

Does this PS sensor cause any problems if it is not connected? I think that my power steering is ok...
I will try to find this sensor in the FSM and post a photo.
