Buzzing air-fuel meter

Does anyone have any idea as to why an AFM (or the intake as a whole) would buzz after a certain RPM?

Mine does after 3800 RPMs, and it's loud enough to be heard from inside the car (with the hood closed, and while driving)...

No, it's not just vibrating on something. The buzzing noise is coming from the inside.

I've also got a bit popping noise, despite the fact that my timing seems to be fine (the leading, at least), lots of low-RPM, low-throttle hesitation, and not much power. It's not popping as much as it used to, but I'm still wondering WTF the buzzing noise is since it's coming from the same place.

Perhaps it's a vacuum leak?

How do you know that the buzzing is coming from the AFM?

Because that's where the noise seems to be coming from...

If not the AFM, it's coming from the intake somewhere.

"Seems" isn't quite good enough to make an educated guess, what exactly is this buzzing? like a high pitched squeal? I have had relays under the hood buzz before, but that was during a turnsignal swap between series 5 and 4....

By seems I mean "almost entirely sure. actually no, scratch that, 105% sure."

From inside the car it sounds like the warning buzzer, except at half the RPMs, and less than half the volume, but when you listen from under the hood, it sounds like something is vibrating metal-on-metal, coming directly from the area of the AFM.

Update!

It turned out to be coming from the air relief silencer hose...

Apparently there's someone else who had the same thing happening.

No idea how to fix it though...
