buy another one or work on this one??
Everyone i asked keeps tellin me the same thing... so here is that question to the masters of Rx 7,, i currently own a 1987 GXL,,, GREAT condition,, have taken it up to 140-150 without any kind of crackling or loss of power and its completely stock... so i decided im going to turn it into a race car.. change suspension, exhaust, wires, tubes, transmission... the whole thing.. but my friends keep sayin it be better if i buy a junker Rx7 turbo for 500 bucks (if i ever find one) because of the strong Transmission that the turbo comes with already. Also another reason they say that is because i have AT transmission.. and was gonna convert it to manual... what do you guys think? does it sound like a bad investment to convert my car right now, or should i just get a project car??
I wouldnt ask at all, but the thing is i love this car and really dont want to sell it... but the power lacking is killing me... so if you suggest i buy another one.. ill have to wait... till i got money for the other one

dude i'm in the exact same **** right now. (correction, mines an '88) all the answers from everybody, close friends and forum members alike, are going to read like the responses you just got. logically. but one other avenue of thought i may suggest: how much can you do yourself and what kind of support is in your area. if you can rebuild your options are wider. ie. n/a port vs. turbo swap. whatever. if your 7 is in great condition, it's still more valuable to you than to me. so keep it in the hands of someone who loves it, and not his little brothers....yo.

depends on what kind of racing you wanna do....drag,road,auto-x,all have diferrent rules which require different setups...some classes don't allow turbos or mods so you may want to look into that..
