bummer :(
My grandma said I could have this 88 rx7 she has sitting there. She said it was a turbo but it turns out it's a n/a gxl.
oh well... I guess I'll just have it bridgeported. How much will that cost?

ya... and don't bridgeport unless you're planning on getting soem sort of EMS...
If you order a rebuild kit (I think Atkins Rotary sells um) AND porting templates you should still be under 1G... and if you ever need parts... leave me a PM LoL...
BUT if you do any engine internal work make sure you do the throttle body mod and port your intake... as well as free flowing zost and a good cone filter... how much money do you have to spend?? You can't put a ported motor in a stock car as I learned...

You could go carb with ur bridge instead of an aftermarket EMS, something to think about. And where do you guys get your prices on rebuild "kits"? As long as the car runs alright and is in ok condition then you don't need a full rebuild, just a basic rebuild, ie all soft seals, apex seals and springs, sideseal springs, corner seal springs (I'd suggest FD), and a couple other things. You can get away with a basic rebuild piecing parts together yourself (no kit) for under 500. Again this is assuming the engine is in alright condition and hasn't blown or been thoroughly abused.

I recommend mcmastercarr inner coolant seals and both oil seals. If i remember right it cost around $60 for the set. I would get Ra's (rotary aviation) apex seals i think you can get a set of 2mm 2 piece seals and springs for $180. Mazda trix for your springs and outer coolant seals. Be sure and get 3rd gen coner seal springs and buy or do the thermal pellet mod. Use rtv for the oil pan gasket and front cover gasket. and most of all buy the atkins rebuild video if you do decide to do the rebuild and read nopistons.com engine building section

why does everyone think their fc is turbo lol. the intercooler is kind of a giveaway...... maybe you should be considering something less extreme than a full bridgeport. especially if you have to worry about emissions.

I'll probably just keep it n/a. I'm very happy with it's condition though.
I might go hit up some junkyards to look for a tII tranny. I'm looking at a sc.
I had a migrane earlier so I quess I overreacted alittle. lol I am very excited to get this car. If I didn't get this my parents were like "why don't you just get a honda civic."

I am sooo happy with my NA. It does everything I need it to do, is peppy as hell and still gets the looks and thumbs up everywhere I go. Most everyone that is into RX-7's love and respect the NA, even when they get all goofy and rib you for not being a turbo. I know this to be fact.
The biggest things that make me love my NA over gettin a turbo is simply : cheaper on gas(can use regular insted of high test $$$), It is more reliable (less things to break, places to leak). More money for reliability mods (over having to save to replace turbo parts and early engine retirement).
**** I could go on and on...
Be happy you are gettin a free car, and a cool one at that. My first hand me down was a Grand Marquis hehehe...

If you want a cheap power boost, put on a good wet nitrous kit. Don't even think about a dry kit unless you have experience with nitrous. An N/A takes very well to a 75 shot, and trust me...thats a kick in the *** when you hit it. Its every bit as safe and reliable as a turbo as long as you have the required fuel for it.
