I am having The Same problem in my FD. I just got a new FM intercooler and removed d old AST because it was cracked. I am using the setup that you don't need the AST. I think the hose that's goes to the cap is the wrong one or something, wrong location because after 5 to 10 min d warning starts. It suppose to be just a connection to the reservoir? Any ideas? Keep having bubbles.

Make borrow buy a Cooling System Pressure Tester

Then you could install it and pressurize the coolant system with the engine off. A hiss should be really easy to hear...

I would use a short section of pipe with an air valve stem and install it in the upper radiator hose.

i have an old upper radiator hose might put a valve stem in it and just use a tire pump with a gauge that would work wouldn't it, you only gotta see if its loosing pressure and where from

was just playing around with the car and decided to put the old radiator cap on and you wouldn't believe it the buzzer came on once and that was it. So i then decided to put the new one back on and the buzzer started up again. so without doing anything else put the old cap back on and the buzzer came on for about 5 secs then went and it ran for about 10mins with no buzzer. Also when turning the car off i could hear a hissing sound coming out of the driver side ( turbo/exhaust side ) but would go away after 10 - 15 secs i think its just the turbo despoiling as there is no leaks there

I'm currently dealing with the same issue on an 88 N/A. I'm thinking it might be due to a clogged radiator. This is the chain of events that I'm guessing is happening: Not cooling properly -> boiling the water -> forcing the water out -> overheating due to no coolant.

I just ordered a new radiator, hopefully I'll get it and be able to install it next week. I'll let you know the results if you haven't figured out your problem yet.

Pressure test system with a special dye that shows up under UV light.

You said 6L, but how much how frequently, how many days I mean.

Just so you know turbo is on the passenger side. Heat core hose is on the driverside of the motor, that tends to get soft and rip.

hey 2slow4stock i live in Aus so we have have the steering wheel on the other side lol so to me its driver side.

Also i found out the cooling system take 8.7ls so maybe i didnt have it completely full but it is now. Gotta take the radiator out for a flush so might check for leaks

if your coolant temp sensor is old and brittle like mines then chances are its just defective, at least thats what i thought.
I've had the same problem for months and I can't fix it. I've done a pressure test and it holds perfectly, but the cooling system is full of bubbles and the top of the radiator fills with air. Thanks in advance
