Browsing through the Fab section and I've got a question.

I stumbled across this thread and I had a question about it.

Maybe I'm not understanding what Rx-7Doctor was saying but it seems to me that I wouldn't be able to post a "Parts Wanted" thread looking for a custom made piece that some vendor probably won't make, that I know of anyways. So, can/should I just go ahead and post and see if I'm wrong and some vendor might be able to? What if I'm right and no vendor can/will make what I want, am I going to get flagged/warned if I post that and some private individual offers to help me out and be compensated for their time/work?

Sorry for the questions that may or may not be in the correct place, I couldn't quite figure out where it should go. If need be I apologize and please move it to wherever is deemed appropriate. I just want to make sure I don't post asking for something and get in trouble.

If you just post here what you're looking for, someone somewhere will tell you where you can find it, or someone can make it for you.

Almost guaranteed.

Cool. Well, I don't know if I should start a new thread or just post in here so I'll just post here and see if somebody looks.

What I'm wanting is basically a pair of speaker brackets for my new rear speakers. I don't quite know how to exactly explain it but I want it to be a 16ish gauge steel, or something that won't flex if 16ga is too thick, version of the top plastic disc on top of the rear buckets with all the proper holes to bolt it to the bucket. I do know the bucket is ~8.25" diameter. Also, there needs to be a 5" hole in the center and corresponding screw holes for my Infinity 6032cf speakers. Here is the product manual with those specifications.

I hope I've given all the info needed, if I forgot something please ask.

If anybody does find this in this thread I thank you very much. I do not have the tools to do this at all or even other tools with any sort of precision. Also, talk to me on what you'd think it would cost if you are able to do it. Don't be shy, the only local machine shop has a waterjet and wants to charge like $300 for this.

Some FC's came with a speaker adapter bracket. This thread shows how to make one very similar.

RXSpeed16, I know how to make it. That's not the problem. I don't have the proper tools to do this, or even any other tools to do it with any amount of precision. But, thanks for the link. Hopefully I can get in contact with docholiday from BCRotary.

Google "metal fabrication in Omaha" since you're ten miles from the big city. Then call the vendors and see if they can help you. Chances are very good if they can't they'll know someone who does.

You can also Google for local race shops like Orion Motor Sports who has fab capabilities.

Living in a farming community means you have a lot of fabrication in your area.

I've googled "metal fabrication omaha", "custom metal work omaha", etc. and contacted a quite a few of the shops. Most of them say they would have to put it on the waterjet or laserjet and that's where the cost comes from.

Didn't think of race shops though, I'll look into those and try to contact more of the machine shops.
