broken water pump housing and over heating.

hello all i am no luck and i have a 1988 mazda rx7
i guess i mis aligned the thermastat and tightened the water kneck and it broke.

i got the water pump off and im down to just the housing and i got the one side loose but the other side on the passanger side is stuck on the stud i dont kno i hit it with a hammer pb blasted the **** out of it. heated it and everthign it wont budge what can i do ? please help asap

the car also over heated the gauge didnt ping on H but it got hot
and there was coolant in the rear of the engine did i blow my cool seals?

hello i am slpin and i have no luck reading your lost take some pictures and maybe we could guess what you are saying pictures are worth a thousand words and i can see why check the hose from firewall to the back of the engine under the oil filter

take the pulleys and all bolts on the waterpump housing off and it should come right off. maybe tap the back with a rubber mallet but it should come off easily.

where in the rear of the engine? inside the rotor housing?

i cant take a pic but i have this on google. anyway the water pump is complety off. i just cant get the housing off it stuck on one the 12 mm studs.
i tried heating it up and hitting it with pb blaster and everything. and the coolant seems to be puddling on the trans mission like on top
i hope i make more sense

ok i got the housing off finally
i had to take off the stud with a pair of locking pliers
there was a bunch of gunk that made it impossiable to remove

you probably have a busted hose thats leaking coolant if its on top of the transmission. more than likely one of the heater hoses or one that goes to the TB/BAC.

remember that there are waterpump shims for the housing, don't forget those or there will be big problems later

well unless i missed it as i was pulling everyhting off i didnt see any shims
but i am buying everything off mazdatrix. im just worried that i blew a seal.
and i used a fan from a lincoln mark vIII .. well the car didnt over heat but started bogging and running rich. so that makes me even more paranoid.

this is my first rotary

ok so i went to mazda
ordered the parts came out to a easy 38.73
for those who will llater look at my thread here are the part numbers
for everything.

8af1-15-171-9u== thermostat and gasket
m326-15-168===the shims for the housing
n326-15-162===water pump housing to block gasket
n3y3-15-116===waterpump gasket

and for those who need a stud kit here is the part number for the water housing studs
1757-10-208

well all of my gaskets came in today except the water housing gasket.
i hope my teacher has a housing for me on monday so i dont have to go to the junk yard and take one out.
so i will let yall kno my progress as i get updates the only thing is i wish i had a digital camera(broke mine in a car wreck)

just a update
i got everything back together finally. ah it was easy thanks to the manual .
i haven't driven it but i did get it started she doesnt over heat or anything which is good so far.
i added a dye and check no leaks and there is no florescent colors in my exhust pipe.
next stop is to do the champagne test to check my coolant seals

Just a friendly tip:

You don't need to remove the entire water pump housing just to replace the thermostat housing / coolant neck. It's 2 bolts. 3 if it's a series 5.
