Brittle AC Vent Replacement and what to do

Here it is....
I'm thinking about trying to cut the center and make fins to replicate the originals. I also thought of just drilling uniform holes in it, but thought maybe the fins on the originals faced you for a reason. I also am not sure of what color to paint them, thinking maybe flat black.
Any advice is appreciated.
BTW, my interior is blue.

Based on the shape you have there, are you referring to the side demister vents? (Triangular, sit on the top of the dash on the corners by the A-pillars.) If so, the angled fins are to send defroster air to the side windows.

But remember there are clips that the stock demister vents attach to under the dash. So you would have to fabricate something to hold it together without the use of stock clips..

Yes, I'm referring to those. I did not know they were supposed to be angled to the side windows though. Thanks.
Yeah i know about the clips I thought about maybe using double sided tape cut thin enough so people couldn't see.

They are only 15.00 apiece for new factory replacements from www.mazdatrix.com. Don't waste your time making your own.

Its directed to defrost the window in front of the side mirrors. So you can see out of them. Just buy new ones.
