Question Bridgeporting a TII motor

Does anyone know if you can benefit from bridgeporting a 87T motor utilizing all the stock components, such as the turbo, ECU, etc...???

What's the difference between a bridgeport, Jbridge, and a half bridge...???? THANKS.

I'm not real knowedgeable about turbo effects, but it would seem like you would get a ton of power, and power requires support. You might have to go aftermarket on your ECU.

Seems like you could get that power from boost. The more drastic porting like that causes engine life to be VERY short from what I have read. Hypathetially it could work... I think.... Im not an expert though. I would Spend that money on turbo stuff to run at 15 psi and have the engine last alot longer. 2 each his own though.

have to remember before you throw the engine logevity into the scenero is that bridgeporting isn't exactly you every day port. People usually do it for the power.. the air flow right? so obviously these people are pushing on the motor more.. of course an engine isn't going to last as long if you're pushing the motor like that..

JUst remember bridgeports are LOUD. They get their power from a very open intake and exhaust, which will in turn raise your boost dramatically. Thus, you won't be stock and will need fuel to support it along with a ported to hell wastegate to keep boost under as much control as you can.

Stock turbo is much too puny for a full-BP engine. You'de be clearing up one restriction (small ports) only to be hitting another.

Half-Bridge: BP of the secondaries.

Full-Bridge: both prim/sec.

J-Bridge: The 'eyebrow' port is extended into the rotor housing, giving a really large port, but requires cutting of the water O-ring.

If you're still running stock EFI and stock turbo, etc., you don't want to even think about bridgeporting. That's more when you're at the bleeding edge of trying to eek out more HP and torque from an already existingly-heavily modified system.

I've did some research over the past few days... And I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to go with a nice size street port. I have two complete motors to play with. One is together, stock and in the car. The other is in pieces all over my kitchen floor.

I'm willing to upgrade whatever is necessary after the foundation/motor is built.

I was told ANY bridge port will make power at high rpm's. And alot of EXTRA things have to be done inside the motor to run over 8.5K hard.

I'll build the streetport, put the motor in the car, work out any bugs and upgrades, and pull the motor that's in there now to be done better with whatever experience I learn from this one.

Sorry, no interesting pics. Just a plain old TII motor in peices. I did send my plates to RacingBeat to be lapped, and I have before and after pics if anyones interested.

No kidding. If my wife walked in to the kitchen to a ripped apart rotary engine, I'd never hear the end of it. Ugh, I dont want to even think about it actually.
