break-in fresh stockish rebuild with hybrid?

My engine is finally rebuilt and slowly but surely I'm getting it in the car for it's first start. The car will be running stock injectors, stock tmic, stock ecu. Next winter after the engine is broke in i will be adding go-fast parts. My question is: Can i run my hybrid turbo during the break-in period so I dont have to swap turbos over the winter, or would it be a better idea to just deal with the hassle of swapping turbos and run the stock turbo until everything else gets added to the car? Either way, the car will be staying out of boost for the first 1000 miles, and stock boost for the remainder of the summer. So what do you guys think?

I wouldn't take the risk..

If you let your mind slip just once, you will blow the engine AGAIN with a hybrid on a complete stock motor.
Even if you would be able to attain stock boost levels, a hybrid flows more air and thus needs more fuel..

I assume you could take the pin out of the wastegate actuator arm and tie it back so the flapper is stuck open and doesn't rattle.

I have zero real life experience, so I'd wait for some one to okay my idea. You don't want to boost when breaking in an engine anyways.

unhook the wastegate flapper so the thing doesnt spool up.

i never did that kind of breakin. the moment i got it running, i started driving it normally. i had fresh rotor housings.

i broke in an engine with a hybrid (actually a couple), and Furb is correct, on stock everything, it'll be lean. however, during break in you're supposed to be under 4000rpm and under half throttle, in those conditions its ok.

so if you can drive it like you're supposed to, its fine, if you are just going to be an orangutan, put the stock turbo on

Bearings are the most important part of a break-in. Were new ones installed or reused?

Use the more tentative break-in procedures if it has new bearings.

Drive it normally if they were reused.

Stock boost on a decent sized hybrid may still outflow the stock injectors....be very careful.

Why not just swap injectors and run an rtek 1.x for now? Surely you weren't planning on running a hybrid on stock injectors.

as mentioned remove the wastegate rod or remove the bypass valve and install an open piece of pipe to bridge the gap.

install the hybrid and drive it like normal. You don't need to mess with anything but your foot on the pedal to control boost.

lol with all of the mixed responses i'll probably just run stock turbo with no wastegate rod and deal with the turbo/manifold swap when i get to it. im not running upgraded injectors or rtek 1.x because i want to make sure the car runs right stock before putting more money into it.

I would go with stock turbo and wastegate fully opened, dont take the risk :P and try not to stay in the same rpm for long periods of time. get that needle movin lots but keep it below 4,000rpm. Happy break in!
