well geting on with it my brakes lock up vary esily now (30mph semi strong braking) i have no idea whats wrong. any pointers would be apreciated

check make sure the pads front and rear are the same compound pads. Racers use pads instead of proportioning valves to adjust brake bias and have the fronts lock up first, and then adjust it more precisely with the proportioning valve if needed.

Hi, I'm new to the forums. and i don't know much about FC's (i hope i can buy on soon).
If your car has ABS try to check the fuse. During thar hard brake at 70mph it is possible that it "burned". I don't know about the FC but in some cars the fuse also controls de front/rear brake distribuition, that can be it.
The tyres lock because there is no ABS, and now the front locks so easely because the brake distribuition is all messed up.
Hope it helps
Sorry for the bad english...

that's probably your problem. how the hell do you not know hwat kind of pads you have?
quick lesson on brake bias : front do more work then rears. so if you have same force on all 4 corners, the rears will lock up first, causing instability. brake bias can be adjusted by (stock) the master cylinder you use and the type of pads you use. fudging with those without knowing what you are dong can cause instability.
after adding aftermarket brakes to a car (which are usually larger etc...) you need to adjust the bias. one of the things that can help is a adjustable bias controller, which can be adjusted so that proper bias is maintained.
for instance if you ran really aggressive pads on the rears and really shitty ones on the front, guess what... your braking will suck. (which is my guess as to what happened)

First - control your speed. (I'm working on this myself.)
**** happens - speed makes it worse.
If you can't see beyond your braking distance, you're going too fast, and sooner or later you WILL crash.
Going up to the limits of the car is for closed courses with flagmen.

70mph + on twisties with blind curves
came up suddenly on a slow moving biker
slammed on brakes, fronts locked up
and you ask whats wrong with the car?
answer = the driver
driver slower when you don't know whats in front of you. physics dictates there is a limit to your car's stopping ability.
