Im replacing my brake pads and in the FSM theres a special tool for compressing the piston's. Is there a way to get the piston compressed without that tool?
Thanks.

Rear brakes?

pep boys.

Disk brake piston retraction tool or something funny like that. Has two nibs sticking out of a round disk with a 3/8 ratchet drive square hole in th emiddle. You fit the nibs into the slots in the face of the piston, and you turn the tool with a ratchet.

NAPA has it for cheap. It works better than using needle nose pliers. I just did mine.

for the fronts put the old pad in the caliper and then with a set of large channel locks squeeze around the back of the caliper in the middle so the piston(s) go back in evenly when you do both sides you might notice some brake fluid coming out of the resevoir don't worry just put everything back together and then step on the brake pedal a couple of times to push the pistons out to the correct spot and then check the resevoir level and fill accordingly

I bought mine from eBay for pretty cheap, but I do know that they carry them at NAPA too.
