Brake Pads

Hey guys,

Hoping you can give me a hand with something. I need new brake pads (front + back) for my UK spec 1988 NA FC (S4), but don't know which pads are right/decent for it. Most ones I can find say they are for the turbo, but don't know if they are the same as NA brakes. (All I know is the front callipers are 4 pot). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and links to specific decent ones would be awesome too!

Thanks,
Jon

Turbo and non-turbo front 4 pot calipers are the same, so you may ignore the "for turbo" designation.

Awesome, thank you! Guessing rears will most likely be the same too?

If the front calipers are four piston, then you should have turbo rear brakes as well - which will say for vented rear rotors.

Now that you know which model pad you have, there are some threads that talk about the merits of different pad materials. The material can make a noticeable difference in brake performance.

Fronts you're safe with the info above, but regarding the rears - but just to be safe, look at your rear rotors and see if they're vented. Just to make sure there's no mismatch or no one changed things up.

That's great thank you, I've checked and have vented discs all round, so I think I'm safe!

Rear brakes use the same pad for both vented and solid rotors, the difference is in the caliper width.

Exactly. Lost my train of thought. Rear pads are same, Caliper and disk are different. Not sure about caliper bracket. Maybe you can remind me (us) for future reference? I keep forgetting.

Only the rotor and caliper differ, they can be swapped without any other changes.
