bouncing rpms

Hi guys,
I would like to ask you a question about something that is happening with my car when a push the gas while on idle. My car has a rock solid 750 rpm idle with no idle or acceleration hesitations. I notice something yesterday and before I start to check things on the car I thought I should ask you guys.

When the car is idling and I push very slowly the gas when it reaches around 1200 rpms and leave it steady there it bounces up to 1500rpms and goes back to 1200 rpms. It jumps back and forth. At any other rpms when you leave the gas steady it stays there. You need to try a little bit to find that spot. When you push the gas slowly and keep it pushed slowlly it goes all the way to redline. For example I have leave the gas solid at 2k,3k rpms etc etc but not at 1200 rpms. Am i making sense?

Thanks

I understand what you're saying but i've never heard of that problem before. Might be a problem with the TPS, but i'm not entirely sure. It could also be something with the O2 sensor. Like i said, i'm not totally sure thats the problem but, it might be a good place to start.

The TPS was my first thought too. I will check it this weekend when I have time. its not the oxygen sensor because I am not running one for years.
Thanks again.
