bouncing off 4k like a rev limiter

do you have a link that would hsow us how to remove the EGR valve? i replaced it on my 300zx but i dont know if its any different.

well im more curious about why it wont idle right. I cant go WOT to rev b/c im missing the pill, it just DIES when i stomp to WOT. but if i go at about 1/3 or so it revs smoothly all the way to redline. problem is: it wont idle

its in the FSM. go download it from www.FC3S.org (right adress right?) it should be there.

PS: I also cleaned the BAC valve. im gonna stick it back on tomrow and we shall see

well, crap. it wont rev above past the starter turning it. I made the gasket and it fit perfect. then it ran for a while and would just die all of a sudden. Is this the fuel pump cutting out? i tried jumpering it and it ran just fine

You jumpered the yellow fuel plug and the car runs just fine. That must mean the micro switch connected to the flapper in the air fuel meter is not making all the time when the car is running, maybe. Thats all your doing when you jumper the yellow plug....bypassing the micro switch on the afm flapper door. REmove and reinstall the plug on the afm a couple of times and try without the jumper. Maybe the plug isn't seated good.

Sorry, I go thru Austin a lot on the way to Corpus to windsurf.........but I make sure its b/t 2 and 5 am, as in no darn traffic conjestion b/t Austin and SAn Antonio during those hours in the morning.

On the egr valve. Maybe the gasket is good and the starter fluid is entering some other open place behind the throttle body???????

well, i jumpered the fuel pump and the fuel pump ran fine. the car didnt i was kidding about the coming down, but to have you work in my car id get up at 2 I tried spraying down behind the throttle body and its a no go. theres no leak back there. im almost outa starter fluid gotta go buy some more

ok, this is still not working. if i dont mess w/ any pedals the car cranks about 2 times, starts, revs up to about 1k then dies. if i start it then push the gas it chokes. if i push the gas just a little then start it i can get it about 2k where it starts to run. when it is running tho, its all nasty. the exhaust is REAL hot, and its lumpy and doesnt keep a steady RPM. If i get it above 4k it smooths out. my parents keep bothering me to take it in but i REALLY dont want to spend the money. Any more ideas (you guys are prolly real tired of hearing me say that )

that exhaust being "really" hot makes me worry. its that hot right when you start it up? my exhaust is not even warm right when i start my car up. i can have my hand right behind the muffler for about 30 seconds before the exhaust gas starts to get hot. are you sure that the engine is ok?
