bought a t2 transmission.... wont go into gear
well i think i may have gotten got on ebay here lately for a t2 transmission
ooook i cant get the shifter into any gear but 5th and now after trying to get it into gear i cant get it into 5th anymore.... im assuming this transmission has something wrong with it considering i have a na trans laying around and it just goes into gear perfectly.... ( along with the NUMEROUS other manual transmissions ive pulled out of cars)
granted im new to mazdas i just thought id ask to see if theres someway to easily fix this or not ....
im not worried about getting my money back it wont be an issue .... just curious to see if it was easily fixable
i assume its not and ill just have to ship this pig back to the seller ( sigh )

is the transmission installed in the car?
is your clutch properly disengaging?
do you have a short throw shifter?
If you swapped from na to turbo transmissions but not the clutch slave and master then your linkage may not be set correctly causing your clutch to never fully disengage.
have you tried getting the car rolling and then pushing it into gear with the clutch pedal down?

yeah i did that and no go ... i also noticed when i could get it in 5th, the shaft wouldnt spin at all....
i have another na trans layin around and it just pulls in and out of gear with no hesitation what so ever...
im thinking its jacked
the seller said it probably got damaged in shipping.... is that even possible? lol i mean cars get in wrecks every day and transmissions survive, i have a hard time believing if you dropped the tranny it would mess it up.... maybe mess up the floor under it lol

Remove the tail housing, and check out the shift linkage. The transmission I'm using now was stuck in 2 gears when I got it, and I had to open it up and pop the rods back up. Once I did that, it shifted just fine.
I think it must have been set down hard at some point and 2 rods clicked down into 2nd and reverse. The whole job took maybe 15 minutes.
