borla xs?

I'm trying to figure out how to quiet the beast down a little bit with the rb header into a straight pipe out to the motoria exhaust. thinking of putting a borla XS muffler on there but can't seem to find much info

are they going to last? do they sound good? any opinions? that straight pipe needs to go and the rb presilencer just seems too small to be able to do much

also as far as the true resonator not muffler do they actually quiet the exhaust at all?

I have a Borla XR-1 and a flowmaster on my n/a and the stock manifold is louder than the exhaust. I like the way it sounds.

BTW - The XR-1 acts as a pre silencer, as I am using a SSautochrome catback (think LOUD!)

My experience with Flowmaster and Borla.
Running Stock set up ----
My Borla - Quite
Flowmaster - Louder than Borla

Running headers and a presilencer ---
Flowmaster -- pretty loud.
My Borla - Louder than the Flowmaster.

Wierd results. Hands down though, the Borla rocks. This is on my NA first gen.

Borla should be all stainless steel so it should last a pretty long time.

I have SSAC turbo back on mine with the borla xr1 where the cat was. It was a very nice to be able to hear my stereo while driving on the highway because before it would drone soo bad at normal speed. Although even with the borla it makes the racing beat sound sucky. I would recommend the borla any day of the week. It might not last but a couple years or so because its stainless steel packed just like other mufflers but hell for $130 you could afford to swap it out instead of paying out the *** for the racing beat.

thought stainless steal is what you want it to be packed with

don't think I'm going to get a flowmaster

more curious as to what the difference between the borla xr-1 vs their borla XS series mufflers

The racing beat mufflers are ceramic wool packed I think, which stands up to the heat of a rotary longer.

how is stainless steal going to break down though?

stainless shouldn't corrode, shouldn't burn up it should last.

You will need to order what ever exhaust you choose in a oval shape to fit in place of the cat.
