personally, I don't like the blue color but I like the way the LED's look. If it was white or something it would be awesome. Post pics of the back! Or write up haha.

You would get pulled over around here (canada), If the lights were on while in motion.(blue lights mean something..Like Cop..service vehicle..something like that)
they look good.BUT it is better just to drive around unhassled, then have a reason for the Popo to pull ya over!
It is not Illegal though to have them illuminated while Parked.

That actually looks pretty darn good and I too like the blue on white effect. That is illegal here in California as well though simply because of the color.

i have thought about tails just haven't gotten around to making them yet. *** far as headlights surrounds, when i got the car it looked like someone took it threw a field, had no front and rear bumpers and everything in the front was bent, it had headlights but no covers, and im not sure if im going to stick with those or try something a little different.

I used 14 white 1W LEDs on each side. I need to get some better pics though. They're ridiculously bright. Ignore the big DC power supply, this was during testing. I made a current limiting DC-DC supply for in the car.

Pretty cool, I was going to ask if they are as blue as they look in the first pics (because in most N. American jurisdictions blue exterior lighting is illegal - reserved for cops and other emerg vehicles), but you appear to have answered that, they must just look blue to the camera. Do they cast any usable light? I don't drive with my headlights at night in the city much, between the street lights and fogs/DRLs I don't need them and they look ugly up. But it would be cool if the led's added useful lighting.

A few years back it was popular to replace the windshield squirters with these little different color LED's. It lasted a few weeks until the police started to notice them and started handing out illegal lighting awards.

I remember when people were doing that, my friend got pulled over and couldn't leave until he removed them. So he had to disassemble the lights out of the hood on the side of the road.

Where'd you get the leds from? Radioshack? I bought a whole bag of blue leds from some place online, and I could never get em' wired correctly. They'd pop when hooked up to 12v. Someone told me to add resistors but I'm no good at that kinda stuff...

Gimme a part no., I wanna do this.

I got my LEDs off of Ebay. I looked them up, they're .5W, not 1W as I said before: Ebay link These ones actually do cast some usable light. Not enough to see the road, but it's noticeable lighting up street signs. The white light makes reading the signs much easier than the yellow from the halogens, though I'll be getting the SakeBomb HID kit to give me even more light.

As far as wiring them, typical LEDs take about 3.5V. They are much more sensitive to current than voltage though, so I made a small MOSFET supply to limit the current to 2A. The max for the system is 2.8A so I have some safety margin.
