boosting good...but doesnt feel like it

im boosting like 10psi.... i have full exhaust with high flow cat, fcd, cone intake, s5 turbo/manifold. and it boosts about 10-11 psi unassisted according to my defi boost gauge. but it just doesnt seem very quick. at least not what i would expect with 10-11psi boost. used a compression tester took the lil needle out that holds the reading so i could get all three readings. 90 even pulses on both front and rear rotor. took plugs out and tips are a lil black or dark. i think im running rich wierd. any body know whats up? cant figure it out.

Boost leak?
Slipping clutch?
Failing BOV? (unlikely)

What's your fuel system like? A little rich shouldn't cause major power loss.

Our cars have similar mods, too bad you're not closer or I'd take you for a spin. I don't have a lot of reference points, but my 200WHP really feels like it rips. I get killer boost, even in 1st.

yea i think my clutch has gone bad...any way of checking this to be certain? and what would a bad clutch effect directly? torque? or overall performance?

when you let off the clutch the engine will keep revving higher, almost like its not in gear. Its a feeling that you just know...its the clutch

Yeah, it's just one of those things you feel. The Rs are going up and there should be a proportional feeling of acceleration.

I'm right on the edge of my new OEM clutch already. I can feel it slip under max load/boost situations. I know if I launch really hard it will slip when the boost comes on good.

welps its not my clutch...clutch is still good.... maybe my timing is too retarded? that would ruin performance right? any other ideas? cause im reading 10-12psi at manifold vacuum with a defi boost gauge...and they're pretty dependable.

Heres a question. Would boosting 13psi provide more power than boosting 15psi on the stock turbo because efficiency is lost?

probably. either more or the same. stock intercooler loses efficiency around 14 psi as well. intake temps would soar.

I have the same problem, but I will get a random 50 hp injection.. Its just freekin wierd when it happens.

Anyhow, I have no vac leaks, good turbo, good voltage, etc..

I think it is one of the two. Throttle body problems. i.e. not opening fully at all times or Perhaps weak spark. Maybe leading coil?

also what kinda highflow cat are you running? have you changed your plugs recently? i would think maybe a weak spark... cuz when i first got my car 9psi felt really weak but i changed the wire and plugs and wow what a difference that made, the leadings were so shot it was amazing the car was prolly only running off of the trailings it felt like..... anyways drop me an email sometime so we can meet up
