boost sensor question...

i messed up and bought the boost sensor off ebay for a s5 and i need one for a s4. i don't think that the s5 will work in it's place but i thought i'd ask anyway. Will the s5 boost sensor work instead of the s4 with the s4 turbo wiring harness?

Hrm... the s5 sensor won't work with the s4 ecu because I believe it sends a different signal back to the ecu. I don't know this for a fact but there has to be reason there are different part numbers for the sensors from each series.

Actually I'm pretty sure the S4 and S5 MAP sensors send exactly the same signal to the ECU. Both are 2bar 0-5V sensors. The difference is that the S4 MAP sensor needs both 12V and 5V feeds whereas the S5's just needs 5V. I might be wrong, but I'd guess the S5 MAP sensor will work fine on an S4. I'm not sure if the plugs are the same, but according to the wiring diagrams the pin lay-out is. The 12V wire in the harness would become redundant.

Note that NA and Turbo MAP sensors are very different. Don't ever interchange them.

I had an NA pressure sensor in my TII for a while...I didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me. i don't know how it got there. I may have mistakenly tossed my TII pressure sensor thinking it was the right one. I now have a TII pressure sensor though, so i'm safe

Having the right parts is a good thing in my opinion...
