Boost sensor, knock box, afm interchangeability

Are they interchangeable? I'm looking to pick up a junked 87 turbo ii for a donor for a 89+ N/A. Could I use those parts?
Thanks

89 cars dont have knock boxes separate, they're built into the ECU. the afm is interchangeable...but you'll have to rewire things. i know boost sensors from turbo cars work on NA cars..but i dont know if series 4 match series 5

Rewire things how? Are instructions available? How expensive are TII S5 AFM's?

Second part, is the TID and BOV interchangeable?

Couple more questions, can I use the stock S5 AFM on the s5 turbo2 engine?

How about the stock na s5 boost sensor on the s5 turbo2 engine?

you cant use the stock na boost sensor on a turbo engine, it doesnt see boost so the ecu will not retard the timing which can cause detonation.

im pretty sure the S5 AFM's are interchangable. i dont believe mine was changed from the swap.

the s4 Tid had two openings, while the s5 has three openings. bov's are the same. if you plug the empty lines on the s5 tid, you can use it.

if you need one, i have a stock S5 NA pressure sensor.

Actually, i was going to use a 87 tid, since i'm buying a turbo ii that's rusted to **** for parts. I'll be using alot of the parts for my swap (read: hood!!! hooooood!!!!!)

So can I use the 87 turboII boost sensor on a 89+ turbo conversion?

I'll keep the AFM from the 89+ na, i guess it shouldn't be a problem.

You *need* a S5 TII AFM (not the same as a s5 NA AFM), a s5 TII pressure sensor (won't work with ANY other year) a N37* ECU, and the 89+ wiring harness (specifically TII, you can use the NA but it requires running a new wire to the knock sensor) S5 and S4 aren't very easily interchangable. And if you're planning on sticking the s4 engine in the s5 you're in for even more difficulty!

No no, i'll be getting a jspec s5 engine. I just don't think it will come with a TID or an AFM so i was hoping to either use the stock S5 NA AFM or somehow rewiring the 87AFM.

You're the second person that has told me that you can just modify the NA harness. PLEASE TELL ME HOW! Which wire do i need to add? Does it have a pin on the ecu?

Well, get the FSM, find the ECU pin for the knock sensor, run a wire from there through the firewall, along the naress, over the engine, down the side near the spark plugs, and attach it to the knock sensor.

If you're going to do it, do it right. If you're getting a S5 turbo engine then get a S5 ECU to run it. At the very least the sensors have to match the ECU you're running.

It will be running the s5 ecu, but have you by any chance checked how much T2 AFM's go for for s5's? Not a pretty sight. I'll be using the NA s5 afm for now.
