boost hard in FRIST GEAR then WTF? EXPERTS HELP!

i was boosting in first then i let off gas quickly, when to second after that my engine went BuuRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, i was like wtf? then i cruised, my motor startted something different, like clunk clunk clunk clunk, compression is fine, boost fine, drive fine, at first i thought it was the transmission but it's fine, go in 1-5 good and reverse no problem..everythign is coo, since i never heard detonation or preignition etc i thought it was that, so i retard my timing all it did was make my motor shakes etc but the sound is still there just goes slower, so what can this be? my turbo is fine also (fins are koo, and very very very slight shaft play but it's been like that since i got the car (which is a year or so). i sound seems like coming from the turbo side of the engine, i checked my sparks plugs etc is koo, ITS LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR, just it makes clunk clunk clunk clunk.

Compression. Check it.

If it's not the motor, then start checking ignition components. Then fuel...shouldn't be fuel though...

Also, check the motor/tranny mounts.

When all else fails, get out with your ears with the car idling and hunt down the noise!

Saab, YOU ROCK... (solenoid boost control... )

i hear the noise while cranking too, it's not the starter cuz when i took it out while the car is running the noise is still there, and it's something that rotates, i know one side motor mount is broken but it doesn't look like the noise is from the motor mount, did a compression check too 90 all across no problemo, i richin the fuel just boggs, and same with igition timming retard it and just boggs

it chunk chunk chunk slowly when i richin or retard the timming, and that day i add 91 OCTANE if it makes a difference. i always put 89. what else i did?.......

i think it's the turbo? but there is no sign of it being fucked up though, but i was boosting in first gear today, i mean to REDLINE, doesn't pull as hard? or maybe something else?

looking at my engine from the passenger side, i can see the flywheel? does that mean i need to tighten the tranny to engine bolts? it's very very small but i can still se the flywheel/clutch spinning, i also took out the metal plate under the tranny to reveal the flywheel/clutch, nothing falls out.

i use the CAS to retard the timming also, no good, still there. it's not my catconverter cuz i don't have any, and it doesn't seem like it's fuel injectors, i can't really hunt the sound down but it's loud of the left side of the engine (exhaust manifold+turbo+intake manifold)

i'll check it out tomarrow (trans-to-engine bolts)

I dunno... Maybe the gas does have something to do with it. I was warned very strongly when I bought my T2 to never EVER put anything less than 93 octane into the tank, and I follow that religiously, should the rotary gods look upon me with scorn and strike me and my car with misfortune if they see me fill up with anything less....

but with 89 it's all normal, with 91 it's iono, i don't think it';s a fuel problem, i got microtech, tune that **** rich and retard the timming, still no good

Broken engine mount. Replace it, and then check all the other mounts (like the airpump, PS pump, etc.) as well as the transmission mounts.

Woah!

Yeah man, tighten those bolts, you shouldn't be able to see your flywheel through the transmission bell-housing!

Especially if you can only see it on one side, that leads me to believe that your transmission is crooked or your engine is crooked, in that case just listen to what he said and replace the engine mounts, but tighten up those bolts! You don't want your tranny spline grinding off it's teeth do ya?
