Boost Gauge...where is 5.5 PSI

from what i have read in the past few days im learning that boosting to the top of the guage is bad...? where is 5.5 PSI about located on the gauge, and should i be boosting to the top like i am right now? is this a sign that my cat has burned out and i am getting some boost creep?

Thanks,
-/\/\ATT

284.4 millimeters of mercury or Torr, on your gauge.

Have fun counting the little lines..

yeah, and 99/100 of the stock gauges don't work right anyways... so really good luck!

buy a boost gauge and install it, they're like $5 on ebay or $20 at your local store...

5 = 1.0 psi
10 = 1.9 psi
15 = 2.9 psi
20 = 3.9 psi
25 = 4.8 psi
30 = 5.8 psi
35 = 6.8 psi
40 = 7.7 psi

The boost guage reads out in units of millimeters of mercury. We like to see our pressure readout in psi (pounds/square inch). The conversion factor is .1934. Crunching thru the figures, we get: What J-RAT said.

get aftermarket if the stock gauge is pegged,

your near fuel cut, and you dont know how much boost your actually making.

what would cause me to boost higher than im supposed to be...is there a good chance its the cat? or is there something else that i should be looking for. i have a boost gauge that came with my car. i just didnt put it in because it goes up to like 50 PSI cause the kid that bought it was so dumb. he thought he needed something with a range that high. oh well ill use it anyways.

Boosting higher is most likely boost creep. Causes are:

Aftermarket Exhaust
Aftermarket Intake
Aftermarket Boost controller.
