Boost gauge doesn't work!
Boost gauge doesn't work!
the in dash gauge doesn't work,,,what exactly runs it,,is there a sensor or is it a vacum run gauge?
doesn't seem like my coolant temp gauge works either
(bare in mind i have never driven this thing anywhere,,just had a it running in my garage,,but i did let it warm up)
i am planning on getting an autometer boost gauge but i would like the indash to work too.

Sounds like you just got the car. If so, check for an FCD. If there is one, that's your problem. The stock boost guage doesn't work with a FCD plugged in.

I would make sure that the vacuum line is hooked up that runs from the intake manifold to the boost pressure sensor. The boost pressure sensor is a little black box that is attached to the passenger side strut tower. It is also possible that this box is bad, has been disconnected, or has in some way been tampered with. Note: the vacuum line that runs to this has a restricter pill in it that should be put into the new vacuum line if you replace it.
Good luck,

The FCD is supposed to only let the ECU see a certian amount of boost (~8psi). If you have an FCD that is telling your ECU there is NO boost then you probably need to invest in a better FCD.

There is also the possibility that your harness has some sort of flaw in that area. I have been battling electrical bugs since I have gotten my TII. Funny, the only part that has given me any serious headaches was made by Schmitsubishi! Still runs great and boosts fine, just can't safely get into boost. BH13b@aol.com

the boost gauge should move with an FCD. it just won't reach the top as the fcd is cutting off the signal to the ecu.
umm, if you don't have that box you need it!! it should be on the pass side shock tower facing the front.

ok went into the garage and found it,,it is there. i am tearing the car appart to paint and put ina new motor,,si jst didn't rmeember ever seeing that box.. one thing is that i took the line off and i didn't see a little pill or restricter in it ,,what should i do about that.

Good luck,
'boost pill' is separate from the boost sensor hose
If your hose is in good shape, just order the pill.
I just had the local Mazda dealer order me a couple of the boost restrictor pills. They're a separate part # from the hose itself. A little dot on their computer display just below the hose itself. Fairly cheap too.
It didn't look like the pill was a part of the hose from the text...
