boost creep and tuning?
ok i juss put on my rb turbo back exhaust and i ported my wastegate the largest it could go on my stock s4 wastegate flapper door. i have a blitz boost controller andon the lowest setting im seeing 7lbs in 1st, 9 lbs in second...etc etc..about 2 lbs more in each gear. i have 690 cc secondaries and a walbro and a fcd. i was planning on using my safc II to tune but im not sur ehow that would work with inconsistent boost in each gear. i have heard of exhaust restrictor plates that should regulate my boost bette.r..or at least keep it down...but wouldnt that also cause me to have more backpressure and therefore turbo lag? anyone ever tune with boost creep? any suggestions?
thanks

Be careful about what you call "boost creep". Check the boost levels in at least 3rd gear, or better in 4th or 5th gears. The turbo normally makes less boost in 1st and 2nd, so it's typicall what you describe.

The Safc should be just fine... you set the Safc to put fuel in as a function of boost by tying the throttle input to the safc to the boost input at the ECU... (s4's you can't use the TPS because it goes 100% at like 1/3 throttle) So, instead of %throttle, ,the SAFC is actually displaying %boost (but it will still say "throttle" on the screen, it only see's voltages)
Your FCD will cut the signal from the boost sensor at around 3.65 volts or so...
the SAFC will then "learn" that 3.65 volts is 100% So you set the SAFC to enrich the fuel by RPM after the FCD kicks in... The stock computer should be able to handle everything up to 8.6 Lbs of boost anyway....
Its not perfect, but it worked well on my car for two years until i went Haltech!!!
