Turbo flywheel in an NA transmission
Is it possible to install a Turbo flywheel on an NA engine / trans using a TII clutch pressure plate with an NA clutch disc?
For every 20 >10lb flywheels I see for sale on ebay or here in the parts section, there is 1 NA version for sale. Sure, I could fork over $450+ for a new alum. NA flywhel but that would be too easy. Considering that a TII transmission bolts right onto the NA engine, wouldn't an NA bellhousing be the same size as the TII version and have enough room inside for a TII flywheel?
I'm pondering a hybrid flywheel / clutch setup as a way of using a TII light flywheel with an NA tranny, with an NA clutch disc for the purpose of having its center splines match the NA trans. input shaft, while the pressure plate would match the bolt and dowel pin spacing of the TII flywheel.
What do you experienced NA / TII wrenchers think?
