Boost creep problem and a few turbo questions
Im currently working on getting my 90 TII running. I just need a clutch set and oil cooler line and I should be running. Here is my current setup:
2.5" Downpipe and straightpipe with stock Y-pipe and stock mufflers. That will boost creep high with straight pipe right? I have a HKS FCD, HKS PFC F-con, and Walboro Fuel Pump. Is that enough to run 11psi. What # should I set the FCD at on the adjust point? Sorry, still new to turbo cars and I did research but I just want to make sure I got the information right in my head. I guess I have to port the wastegate, I hope its not too hard. And I wanted to run until I port the wastegate on the other turbo I have. But if its not safe, I will start-it up to know the jdm engine starts, then turn it off and wait til I port the wastegate. I need money for new tools and Im broke. I need a good boost controller too. Looking for an Old skool HKS.

If you're broke, you shouldn't be modifying the car, period.
You're already looking to push the boost up with a boost controller???
Dude, get your finances straighten out first, and then spend anything extra on the car.
You really should open up the exhaust first before even looking at a boost controller.
This is like a really twisted way to upgrade - boost controller before exhaust, and you're worried about boost creep???

*sniff* *sniff* *Sniff* I smell something... smell s like.... hot metal.. burned oil......
Anyway...
You have an HKS intak and a modded TID, a 2'5 inch DP and a cat replacement pipe back to the stock catback....... the stock catback is the only thing keeping your from boost creep, and.... even with it.. because you opened the front end up.. you may get some boost creep ( NZ missed the HKS intake part)
porting your wastegate is a good idea and will definately help keep this down..
HOWEVER... you don't need a boost controller.. all a boost controller can do is INCREASE boost... Once you put a performance catback on that thing you are going to have your hands full keeping the boost to a manageable level, even wiht a ported wastegate.
Somebody peed in ted's Poi again... Some idiot posted something really retarded in another post i read earlier and i suspect that set Ted off!!!!!!!!
Anyway.. It seems from your you have all the goodies you need to get that car running well except the cat-back, just make sure you get that F-Con set up properly and don't go past 12 PSI (honestly... even with a ported stock wastegate... the only way to be sure of this is by eyeballing the boost gauge and lifting your right foot.. a boost controller isn't going to help you out there)

I run about the same exhaust setup to keep my boost at 8psi, I have an aftermarket 3" intake and 2" dp with straight pipe to stock "Y" with aftermarket mufflers. You are not going to see past 8-9psi with that exhaust. Get a full 3" exhaust and a boost controller at the same time. Don't install one without the other.

Cause, there's a difference between "elevated boost due to a freer flowing exhaust" and "boost creep...
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/FAQ/bcreep.html
And I need a boost controller, because I am planning to get the Mazdaspeed Catback and a 3" Downpipe.
If you're going to start opening the exhaust system up, why do you need a boost controller?
As YearsOfDecay already metioned, a boost controller can only raise boost, and it cannot lower it.
I have a short description in the above link.
I am getting low on money, but it doesnt mean I dont have a job and it doesnt mean I aint paying my bills and I am planning the better exhaust in the future.
The main question I was asking was if my exhaust with no cats gonna make crazy boost creep. And If it did, I was gonna port the wastegate now. But since it wont and psi will go up only 1-2psi, I should be safe and I wont port until I get the better exhaust. And I got that answer from the others.
With the cat-back, it's going to go up even more.
I don't know what the "Mazdaspeed Catback" consists of, but you should be running in the neighborhood of 10psi minimum.
I can't comment if the turbo will "crazy boost creep", but it might not considering the rest of the exhaust system is still pretty small.
I would seriously looking into an FCD, reprogrammed ECU, and an upgrade fuel pump and fuel pump power rewire.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm in the same situation now. Ted, when you said "
