boost creep?

okay i just got an 87 t2. i was on the expressway last night and i was on it a little bit. and out of the corner i saw the aftermarket boost gauge go from about 5 psi to 11psi pretty fast. i slowed down of course and haven't gone past 5 psi since. it is not stock so how do i tell if the boost is creeping?

it has some type of after market bov, downpipe, and the turbo air filter is an hks with aluminum piping going down to the turbo. otherwise it looks stock.

and yes i am a noob to the second gen.

def. sounds like boost creep....
remove the turbo...port the wastegate and that should help the problem quite a bit if not eliminate it..

Stay on the throttle-If it continues to climb, you've got boost creep. If it stays at 11PSI no problem. Better check if any fuel modifications have been done if you're running that much boost.

Look at the wastegate (or take pictures) - if there is a boost controller there - it may not be creep.

If there is no boost controller and the vacuum line goes directly back into the turbo - it's creep.

Deal with it right away, anything past 11PSI and yyou are risking your motor. Porting your wastegate is not a whole lot of work and the car will amke more power when you're finished due to better exhaust flow.

alright thanks guys. i really don't wanna risk going past 11psi or even back up to it. i will take pics of the waste gate and see where the line goes. if it's not stock i'll take a pic and post it. i will keep it under 6 psi until my day off when i can take a good look at it.
