Boost controller killing boost?

Alright, just put a FMIC and hybrid turbo on the car. I was running a stock s5 turbo before with a Hallman MBC. Well, after getting the new turbo and whatnot on...running just off of the wastegate, the car boosts to 5lbs and holds really nicely. So, we put the boost controller back inline, and turn it all the way down which should essentially run just like it did before just running off the wastegate correct? Well, the car now acts like it just hits a wall. It hits 5 lbs and then it's almost like you're hitting the brakes on the car....we tried turning the controller up some to see if that it made a difference ut it was the same thing...just hits a wall. So...we switched the lines around on the controller...but no change. What would be causing this? Is this typical symptoms of a failing mbc or is there something else we're missing?

what kind of controller?
did you adjust the gain and start on it if its electronic?

also setting it all the way down doesnt mean that it will necessarilly boost stock levels. removing it, turning it off, or setting it top stock will

i see you have a boost gauge hooked up .. is it doing anything funky like fluttering when under full load?

the controller may also be leaking

nope...it hits 5 lbs and then the car feels like you're hitting a wall and the boost drops to nothing....and if you try to push through it...it just kinda revs-dies-revs-dies over and over quickly.....really strange

honestly i belive its the boost controler itself....i wouldnt trust it too much browse around the net.... i hear of these little MBC units going bad or not working right OR if they do work require ALOT of re calibration.... this could be ur headache...run with it uninstalled and u feel a solid boost being held....and then put it on ....its probly a bad unit i can ALMOST PROMISE its made in china.... and we all know how they like to use glycol in our toothpaste.... good luck and honestly if u run it uncontrolled how much boost creep do you get? u have an LM-1 and an RTek just tune for current boost curve OR get an EVC from HKS....

take care and best wishes!

well the controller worked fine with the s5 turbo, but who knows....
This wasn't a el cheapo mbc...it was nearly $100. Granted that's not much compared to an electronic...but it's suppose to be a nice MBC. ANybody else had a problem like this with an MBC and found it to be the controller itself as the culprit?

with the new turbo..it hits and holds right @ 5lbs on the wastegate with ZERO boost creep, and on the stock map of the rtek 2.0 it is pretty much mid 11's on the WB.

yep...new hoses actually...and it's hooked up according to boost controller manual...one going to wastegate...and one going to turbo for boost source.

yea double check a vac diagram to make sure ur not in the right vac port (as in positive or negative vac offa the manifold) hmm if its a leak why does it boost properly without the boost controller then? if its a leak it should be somewhat consistent to the boost pattern despite the controller? id say try someone elses controller and see if it works sometimes ya get a bad egg? good luck! keep us posted if you happen to get it fixed OR make a video and post that THAT could prove interesting!
