bolting up oil pan ?

bolting up oil pan ?

i was wondering if there is a certain way to bolt up the oil pan . i'm replacing the gasket and i know with some cars you got a torque spec and a certain way in which to but it back on . do i go corner to corner or what ? thanks for the help . i tried to look but all i got was info on gaskets

from what i heard get a engine hoist and lift the motor just a lil bit on the pass side so the weight is off of that motor mount . course there maybe a lil better way . if there is let us know

The torque spec for the pan bolts is 69 - 95 inch pounds. The spec for the engine bracket bolt is 46 - 69 foot lbs.

The manual doesn't give an order, it just says tighten them gradually. So, I think the common-sense cross pattern that you are using is appropriate.

The passenger side motor mount bracket has to come completely off.
That will take some rigging.

RTV is magic. I rarely use gaskets any more.

You dont need an engine hoist...you can use a jack and some blocks on the tranny.

You dont need an engine hoist...you can use a jack and some blocks on the tranny.
Very true, I changed both of my engine mounts this way.

Be VERY CAREFUL not to overtighten the bolts. They WILL break.
