Body Damage Help!

Ok, here is the deal. Last December (2001) I forgot my hoodpins, and my hood flew up. I bought a new hood, but the roof still has a few golfball sized dents in it. The body shop said they will have to replace the whole roof and the windshield (cracked, but not bad) and it wil cost approx $2k!!!!! SO here is my question, is it possible to fix this w/o replacing the roof? I do not need perfect, just not the cellulolite look it has right now! I was able to get most of the dents out, except the ones in front of the front roof crossmember. Any ideas? The front crossmember blocks any tools from underneath, so will I have to live w/ a bunged roof till I can rob, er save, up enough to fix this?

I haven't seen the damage so its hard to say for sure, but al long as there is no structural damage to the header, then in therory you should be able to have it pulled/pounded and filled.

But that is less than perfect, so make sure that is what you want.

I would still guess $1000-1500 to do it right, if a little less perfect, not including whindsheild replacement.

IMO: If it is structually bent then the only option is to replace the roof assembly.

you could try taking your ceiling carpet (correct term escapes me right now) and try to push it out from the inside. i have never seen the underside of the roof so i dont know that this would work

putting a roof on is like 20hrs of labor. a new factory part is only like $100 but it's the install, plus it will never be right

I got most of the damage out by dropping the head liner, and a rubber mallet. I remember my high school chemistry teacher said when he worked in a body shop in the early 80's, they used dry ice to get out haildamage. This basically looks like pretty decent hail damage. I would like to keep the price under $1k, because I am saving up for a TII, 240SX, or a MX-5.

i pop most of the damage out, replace the sunrrof, hood, hood brakets, winshield, and bondo the roof, it doen't look original but its ok
only downside is the roof is primer balck and i cann't open the roof anymore

It'll be right if you have a good body shop do it. That means an expensive body shop.
